#20 - Shopify's down... I blame Taylor Swift 😂
Ecommerce boost for Walmart. AI for Ecommerce. Walgreens Omnichannel. Evolution of Ecommerce Tech. Taylor Swift breaks Shopify.
Hey everyone 👋
Thanks for meeting me here again one week later. As usual, I’m sending some of the most relevant Ecommerce News and Insights of the week. This week I had much more things I wanted to share but they didn’t fit here. If you want to stay in the loop, just come follow me wherever you like to get your information:
5 - Ecommerce boost for Walmart
Walmart isn’t sleeping. They know what’s up - there is no more DTC vs traditional retail. There’s simply Commerce. It doesn’t surprise me they’re leveraging online sales to support their bottom line neither that the buying online and picking up in stores keep driving results.
4 - How to prompt AI for Ecommerce?
This guide is a goldmine for using ChatGPT in Ecommerce content creation. It focuses on crafting tailored AI prompts that reflect brand values, resonate with customers, and enhance content quality. Covering aspects like brand personality infusion, addressing customer needs, leveraging analytics, and refining prompts for SEO and visual appeal, it's a roadmap to creating engaging content. The examples showcase the evolution from basic prompts to detailed, impactful directives, empowering businesses to harness AI for compelling ecommerce content that truly connects with audiences.
3 - Walgreens believes in Omnichannel
Walgreens is revolutionising online delivery by using its 8,700 stores as fulfillment centres. It's closing dedicated eCommerce warehouses, opting for same-day delivery via apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats. This move integrates online and in-store orders, eliminating separate distribution networks. With a focus on speed and convenience, Walgreens is partnering with delivery apps to offer faster options, aligning with consumer demand for on-demand services. This omnichannel shift aims to attract more shoppers and streamline inventory management, adapting to the trend for quick, same-day deliveries.
2 - Evolution of Ecommerce Tech
The 2024 Leading Vendors report details the ecommerce technologies adopted by online retailers. It highlights the significant interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI, with retailers exploring integration into their sites while expanding investments in various technology areas. Over 62% plan to increase spending on ecommerce technology, prioritising customer experience and conversion rate improvements. Notably, content and ecommerce platforms stand as top tech priorities for 2024, followed by product management and web analytics. While AI remains a focal point for some, it's not a top-five priority for a significant portion of retailers. Additionally, the report reveals that more than a quarter have found success with AI, while others are considering its implementation, indicating an evolving interest in leveraging AI for retail tech enhancements.
1 - Taylor Swift breaks Shopify
Taylor Swift's Shopify store crashed during her new holiday merchandise drop, leaving all Swifties merchandise-less for an hour. While it was a brief blip, the Taylor Swift economy needs safeguarding! Shopify's outage during peak shopping time raises questions about code management and transparency. Shouldn't a code freeze have started before the holiday rush? More reliability and transparency on status pages, please! Let's protect all online shopping experiences, Swiftie or not!
FOMO alert: Shopify x Whitespace Beanie
Yesterday, Shopify announced a new cooperation with Shaun White on their merch store. I already got mine, but you if you don’t hurry you’ll miss out!
