June Was Hot. Shopify Was Hotter 🔥
From crypto payments with USDC on Base to a completely reimagined analytics experience, Shopify’s June updates brought serious firepower to merchants of all sizes. Here’s the top hits from June 2025!
Crypto goes mainstream!
Shopify Payments is now rolling out support for USDC on the Base network.
What does this mean for you?
Shopify is integrating USDC, a leading digital US dollar currency, directly into your payment options. This is a game-changer for several reasons:
Expand Your Customer Base: Instantly open your store to a new segment of customers who prefer to pay with crypto, potentially unlocking new global sales.
Simple Payouts: By default, you'll receive payouts in your local currency, just like your standard Shopify Payments, with no foreign exchange or multi-currency fees. It’s seamless.
Flexibility: If you choose, you can opt to receive payouts directly in USDC.
This isn't just about "crypto"; it's about making your Shopify store more versatile, more global, and more efficient.

Platform Updates
New Analytics Experience
The completely reimagined Analytics experience is now the default for every Shopify store, offering immediate, deeper insights into your business. You can now see real-time data, create custom dashboards for your key metrics, and build data explorations to analyze any combination of metrics and dimensions.
Plus, with ShopifyQL, you can write custom queries directly from any report for ultimate control. This powerful new experience, including ShopifyQL, is fully supported in the Shopify mobile app, putting your store's performance in your pocket. Dive in and make smarter decisions for your store.
Duplicate Menus: a small change, a huge time saver
It might seem like a minor addition, but this is a legitimate time-saver we've been waiting for. No more painstakingly rebuilding menus by hand or relying on clunky workarounds.
Now, simply view any menu's details in your admin, hit "duplicate", and you'll get an exact copy with all links perfectly intact. This significantly streamlines creating similar navigation structures: think seasonal promotions, region-specific layouts, or A/B testing new designs, freeing up valuable time for more impactful tasks in your store. This is a fantastic quality-of-life improvement that will directly benefit your workflow.
Shop Metafields are now easier to manage
Shop metafield definitions and values are now directly accessible within your Shopify Admin! This update significantly streamlines how you manage global, store-wide data. No more relying on complex workarounds for unique content or settings. All your shop metafields are now visible and manageable right in the interface.
This also means apps and developers have more flexible ways to build advanced customisations for your store, leveraging this newly exposed data via the Admin API.
In essence: more control, easier management, and greater power for advanced, store-wide customisations, all at your fingertips.
Define payment terms conditionally at checkout
You can now conditionally define payment terms directly at checkout using the Payment Customization Function!
Beyond just reordering or hiding payment methods, you can now set fixed, net, or event-based payment terms for each order, with optional deposits. This means tailoring when and how customers pay, like offering "Net 30" to specific clients or requiring upfront deposits for custom orders.
This update offers powerful flexibility to optimise cash flow and customer agreements, directly at the checkout.
New pagination limits for Liquid & Storefront API
Shopify has refined pagination limits for Liquid and the Storefront GraphQL API. This helps boost performance, especially for larger stores.
Here's what's new:
25,000 item cap: When your store or apps paginate through long lists (like products) using Liquid or the Storefront API, the limit is now 25,000 items. Queries beyond this will either error or stop.
Bigger Liquid Pages: Good news! Liquid's maximum page size is now 250 (up from 50), letting you fetch more items at once.
If your store or custom code currently displays or paginates through over 25,000 items without strong filtering, you'll need to adapt. Focus on adding more filters (e.g., by product type, price) to your collection pages. This is key for both performance and staying within limits.
POS news
Shopify has the vision of not only being the default top of mind solution for online stores, but also to replicate it across retail. That’s why they’re making it easier and easier to set up shop, even without expensive hardware. For now most of these updates are restricted to countries where POS is fully supported… But it’s a sign of what’s coming to all of us globally over the next few years.
Customise multiple variants in one cart
Shopify POS now allows you to add multiple customised versions of the same product variant to a single checkout.
No more separate transactions for items like two custom-named t-shirts or multiple coffee orders with different details. You can now easily add each unique customisation (via line-item properties) of the same product directly into one cart.
This update streamlines complex orders, making your in-store experience faster and more efficient. It's available in Shopify POS version 10.3.

Unification, Not Just Integration
For enterprise merchants, it's crucial to understand: true unification is replacing costly integration. Stitching together "best-of-breed" systems often creates a hidden burden of technical debt and endless maintenance.
Shopify champions unification: building your core commerce on a single platform where online and in-store are natively connected, eliminating complex integrations entirely. Think of your smartphone - apps don't integrate; they're unified.
Why this matters for your business:
Eliminate "Fragmentation Tax": No more wasted resources on technical overhead or inconsistent customer experiences.
Focus on Growth: Your teams can drive innovation and seamless customer journeys, instead of constantly debugging connections.
Real Savings & Growth: Research shows significant cost reductions and an average 8.9% GMV uplift for retailers unifying on Shopify.
To fully grasp how Shopify's approach fundamentally differs and what true unified commerce looks like, I highly recommend reading the full article on retail unification. It's time to move from the complexity of integrations to the power of native unification for true digital transformation.
